A family affair...

Nearly 39 years ago, Stuart Adams, Sr. bought a place to build part-time for First Monday weekend. As a new transplant to Texas and an LDL truck driver for a major hardwoods company out of Wilmer, Texas, he began collecting cut scraps when their clients would order custom board lengths, saving them from the dumpster. By the time he’d return to Wilmer from his workweeks on the road, he’d find his pickup truck loaded with small off-cuts, that he would take back to “the shop” in Canton and plane, mould, and dream of what could be done with them.

​He brought the scrap pieces of wood to First Monday and sold out the very first weekend. The part-time hobby grew to delivering hardwoods at 4 AM before his full-time job and working on orders after work. Stuart Adams Hardwoods first official customer came in 1981. It was a one man labor show with his wife Lottie making sure the books were straight. In January of 1997, Stuart Jr. joined full time after graduating from lumber grading school in Memphis, TN. From there the company has grown to provide quality hardwoods, plywoods and custom millwork. Throughout the years the goal has been to enhance our craft everyday so that you receive the best.

The family business is now run by Stuart Adams, Jr., who continues the legacy of excellence. Now expanding the company to new sizes and products to fit your needs.
